system transfer from unusable 2DS

Hello, so I'll just say what's wrong with my DS:

I was playing the Find Mii mini-game in Mii Plaza, turned on Sleep Mode for a few minutes, and the screens were both black when I came back. I had to force shut down the power because nothing else worked.
And now this keeps happening: I turn it on, everything is okay for 15-20 seconds, and then this error message pops up -> 'An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. For help, visit support.nintendo.com.'

On a side note: before the ~20 seconds are up, it gets really laggy if I try to open up an app or game...
Some things I've tried:
-taken out SD card. Nope. Same message.
-turned wireless off. Yeah, it works, but I use the Internet for Shuffle and Alpha Sapphire and I don't wanna stop doing that.
I read somewhere that I should reformat my SD card but I'd seriously rather not. I have my Shuffle, AS, and Colors! 3D data saved on there, there is no way I'm letting all that get deleted after the hundreds of hours I've invested into them. I bought AS, Colors! 3D, a couple Home themes, and a bunch of diamonds for Pokemon Rumble World through the eShop.
I don't want to try fixing it myself or anyone else, there's too much risk involved.
I feel like I should send it to Nintendo to get repaired but I'm not exactly made of money...

But I hope to get a new 2DS for my birthday (a few weeks from now) since it's only $100, less than it would cost to repair my current one. Would it be at all possible to do a system transfer from my nonfunctional 2DS to a new one? Oh, by the way, I bought it back in June 2014, so the warranty would have expired.

I really hope I'm not out $60+ because of this.
